Project Overview
The former Lincluden Church site in Dumfries has undergone a sensitive transformation to provide affordable new homes while respecting the location’s deep historical and architectural significance.
Designed by Robert Potter & Partners and delivered by Ashleigh Building, the project incorporates the former Lincluden Church Stables structure while revitalising the unused grounds around it. Blending traditional forms with contemporary living standards, the new dwellings also focus on providing sustainability benefits to their inhabitants.
Completing this development are the Raeburn Edgemoor Light and Edgemoor Dark facing bricks, plus details of a deep blue glazed brick, all supplied by Bricklink.
Brick Selection
Due to the site’s history and the need to complement the design of the exiting stables building, selecting the right brick for the new Lincluden development was key. Following site visits and a review of brick samples, the Bricklink team recommended a blend of the Edgemoor Light and Edgemoor Dark facing bricks from Raeburn.
The brick blend successfully replicates the variation found in the natural stone used on the stables whilst also providing a more contemporary appearance for the new homes. Adding to this is the dragfaced brick texture, which provides further variation and character to the houses.
To finish the new build facades, glazed brickwork has been installed adjacent to the doorways and windows, to bring further visual interest to this new scheme.

Project Completion
By working closely with the architect and main contractor, Bricklink ensured the timely supply of the Edgemoor Light and Edgemoor Dark bricks, plus the assurance of consistent installation that blended packs require.
The redevelopment of the Former Lincluden Church now stands as an example of sensitive reuse, where respect for history is maintained while the need for contemporary affordable housing is met.
