    Project Overview

Commissioned by Clydebank Housing Association, the Dalton Avenue development in Clydebank represents a significant investment in affordable housing for the community. Designed by Coltart Earley Architecture and constructed by Cruden Building (West) Ltd, the £3.9m project aimed to address the growing demand for ‘quality, affordable housing that meets the changing needs of customers’ in the Linnvale area.

The Bricklink team were pleased to supply the facing brick that envelopes the 24 social housing apartments. From our exclusive Tournai range, these cost-effective yet beautiful bricks assisted in keeping costs low for our project partners.

    Community

In addition to providing 24 new, modern homes for residents, the Dalton Avenue project team were also keen to work closely with the local community and the Clydebank Housing Association to provide employment and training initiatives. As well as offering apprenticeships, employment opportunities and work placements, the team at Cruden also contributed £5,000 to the local community, including over £3,000 towards the Linnvale Gala Day.

To benefit tenants, each high-quality home features WiFi, communal gardens and parking spaces. The homes also include a range of energy-efficient features to make them warmer and cheaper to run.

    Project Completion

Working with both Coltart Earley Architecture and Cruden Building, the Bricklink team were conscious that the brick selection needed to be within budget whilst meeting the project’s modern aesthetic requirements.

By using the Fumosa Granite brick, the scheme benefits from its contemporary smoke-grey tone that is sympathetic to Clydebank’s traditional material palette. The wirecut brick also features subtle surface texture to provide modern lines and a relaxed warmth.

Reflecting a successful partnership between all stakeholders involved, the Dalton Avenue development was shortlisted for the Affordable Housing Development of the Year at The Herald Property Awards 2023.
