Overview
Designed by KPP Architects, the Dakota Hotel in Manchester is a new addition to the luxury lifestyle brand Dakota.
The nine-storey building was inspired by the golden age of air travel, creating a sophisticated yet cool, timeless style. It has provided the area and its tourism with 137 luxury guest rooms, including 27 suites.
Brickability, Tamworth were pleased to supply the luxury development with the Lanzarote Black facing brick, which is manufactured by La Paloma Ceramicas and is part of our exclusive range. Previously used on the Dakota Hotel in Glasgow, the brick was chosen to match the signature aesthetic of the brand and to create a striking, recognisable facade.
Project completion
When designing the brand’s aesthetic, Evans Property Group took inspiration from the glamorous air travel era, where flying was a luxurious experience that included cocktail lounges, five course meals, caviar and champagne. By utilising a black brick on the external facade, the architects and contractors have emulated the level of sophistication and luxury seen in the golden age of air travel.
Part of the high profile redevelopment of the area, the flagship hotel was built on a brownfield site, previously used as a surface car park, near the heart of the Piccadilly Basin. The £30m development, completed in 2019, provides its guests with a Signature Bar & Grill, a chic cocktail lounge and champagne room with an outdoor terrace, including its own cigar garden.
