Introducing K-BRIQ®, the Ultra-Low Carbon Brick
As the construction industry embraces a more sustainable future, new materials are leading the way.
K-BRIQ® is one of those innovations. Made from nearly 100% recycled construction, demolition and excavation waste, compression technology turns this into high-performance, design-led bricks that naturally improve any project’s sustainability credentials.
K-BRIQ® has even received major industry recognition, including the BE-ST Circular Economy Award, London Build Expo’s Excellence in Sustainability Product Award and a nomination for Prince William’s Earthshot Prize.
What is a K-BRIQ®?
Developed by Kenoteq, K-BRIQ® is a sustainable alternative to traditional clay bricks. Each unit is compressed and cured at low temperatures rather than fired, cutting embodied carbon by up to 95%.
This process uses minimal water and produces almost zero waste, yet it delivers on strength, durability and aesthetics.
- Embodied carbon: Less than 20 g CO₂e per unit and around 1 kg CO₂e per m² of wall.
- Compressive strength: 30 N/mm²
- Durability: F2
- Water absorption: 2%
- Size Tolerance: T2 R1
- Fire safety: The Medero Dark Grey is A2 fire rated while other colours are B rated
Sustainability & circular economy benefits
Every K-BRIQ® represents a success story in circular manufacturing. By turning construction waste into a useful building material, K-BRIQ® keeps resources in use again and again. Each brick can itself be fully recycled at the end of its life, supporting a closed-loop model that fits within Net Zero and BREEAM frameworks.
This low-carbon production method helps project teams achieve sustainability targets while demonstrating measurable carbon savings.
