Glass Blocks

Glass blocks are typically hollow blocks that are made when molten glass is poured into two halves, which are later pressed and sealed together.

By pouring the glass into two separate moulds, the hollow centre creates a vacuum that offers a lighter product, and a more economical choice as less material will be used.

We are also able to offer glass blocks with a range of fire ratings, depending on your requirements. For best performance, we have a block with up to 60 minutes integrity and insulation.

We wouldn’t recommend cutting glass blocks as you might do with masonry or bricks, instead it’s best to work with a supplier to work out your required dimensions and quantities.

If your wall or bond pattern requires the use of half blocks, these are readily available to serve the purpose that a cut glass block might.

While recent developments have given us the option of acrylic alternatives to glass blocks, we would still recommend the use of the original product for a number of reasons:

Variety: We love the creativity that real glass blocks offer our customers as the manufacturing method allows for a wide range of colours and finishes. No matter what your project aesthetic is, glass blocks can be specified from a selection of options to complement and harmonise with adjacent products.

Low Maintenance: Glass blocks are superior to acrylic options in that they’re very easy to wipe or clean and can be treated with any standard glass cleaning product. Contrastingly, acrylic blocks cannot be subject to abrasive cleaning products.

Durable: Glass blocks offer the durability of other glass products and will not deteriorate over times. Resistant to scratching, glass blocks will also not yellow as acrylic block are known to do.
