Overview
Located in the heart of Knightsbridge, the Walton House Residences at 66 Pont Street exemplify the art of marrying historic architecture with contemporary luxury.
At the centre of this new development is the original structure of 64 Pont Street, which shaped the new scheme’s external design choices. 66 Pont Street, now named Walton House Residences, is an extension of the original build that required an exact continuation of its architectural language.
Designed by KSR Architects and developed by M Design London, the brick selection was pivotal to the facade’s success. From our Mitcham team, Kieran Cioffi provided specialist consultation to source and supply the reclaimed yellow stock bricks that perfectly matched the original elevations.
Design Intent and Material Selection
Surrounded by listed buildings, heritage sites and historic architecture, the Walton House Residences could be nothing but a perfect visual continuation of its neighbouring streetscape.
Like much of London, Pont Street is lined with buildings constructed from London Yellow Stock bricks. While sourcing newly manufactured versions of this commonly produced brick would have been straightforward, the natural weathering that occurs on any brick over time meant that new bricks wouldn’t provide the exact match required for this project.
Instead, the extension required reclaimed yellow stock bricks to achieve the desired, authentic result. Equally, the selected bricks still needed to be high performing, to ensure they’d meet structural standards.
To meet these requirements, the Brickability team reviewed multiple batches of reclaimed bricks, checking for consistent colouring and quality before being approved for installation on site.
Project completion
With the project located in one of London’s busiest neighbourhoods, logistics demanded precision. Brickability worked closely with the contractor to coordinate deliveries with the construction programme, minimising disruption so the build could maintain momentum.
The reclaimed bricks were integrated perfectly with the existing facade once on site, with special attention paid to the alignment of bond pattern and joint profiles.
The completed Walton House Residences now stand as a refined example of heritage sensitivity and modern luxury. The reclaimed yellow stock brick facade preserves the historic charm of Knightsbridge while delivering a flawless, premium finish for contemporary living.
