The exclusive brick range
Coming from leading UK and European manufacturers, the exclusive range features an outstanding selection of standard, linear and glazed bricks.
Project Overview
Brunswick Yard is a thoughtfully designed residential development that has transformed a former builders yard into a vibrant new community in the village of East Peckham, Kent.
Delivered by Hibau, the project has replaced disused commercial buildings with 10 desirable two-to-four-bedroom homes, bringing much-needed new housing to the area.
Working closely with Hibau, Alfiam Building Supplies supplied both brickwork and cladding materials for the scheme. The Esher brick was selected from exclusive brick range and paired with Hardie® Plank fibre cement cladding in two complementary shades.
Design process
With the architectural heritage of East Peckham in mind, Hibau and Alfiam were keen to reflect the character of nearby homes while introducing contemporary elements. The area’s historic facades, particularly along Pound Road, often feature slate and timber detailing on upper levels, reminiscent of oast house structures, whilst brick and stone adorn the ground floors.
To reflect the traditional delineation of floors, the team at Alfiam proposed the use of Hardie® Plank from James Hardie. Resembling the texture of wood, these fibre cement planks offer the traditional appeal of timber whilst providing enhanced durability and versatility. Backed by several certifications, this fibre cement cladding was an excellent choice for blending historic architecture with modern living.
The variety of colourways in the facades of local East Peckham homes meant that the team from Hibau were free to choose from a range of cladding shades. Hardie® Plank is available in 21 colours, and the final choice for Brunswick Yard was the Boothbay Blue and Arctic White. These two shades provide a beautiful contrast to the red bricks selected for the ground floors.
Red brickwork creates the final connection between the new homes and the local area, with the Esher bricks matching those used in the surrounding vernacular.

Project Completion
The construction of Brunswick Yard presented several logistical challenges, particularly around site access and on-site storage. The narrow entrance and limited space meant that deliveries had to be carefully timed and managed to avoid disruption.
To combat these issues, the team at Alfiam worked with Hibau to provide flexible solutions around payment and storage. Firstly, Hibau paid for the Esher bricks six months in advance to secure a price that worked within the project budget. Alfiam then quarantined the bricks at their yard, ensuring they could be called to site at short notice and the lorries could negotiate the tight turn and narrow access into the site.
A similar process had to take place with the Hardie® Plank cladding. After coordinating the take off and design with James Hardie, Alfiam supplied and delivered in the same way as the bricks, leading to optimal delivery times and a smooth construction schedule.
Brunswick Yard is a beautiful example of how thoughtful planning and material selection can bring new life to traditional village settings. Through close collaboration with Hibau, Alfiam delivered practical solutions and premium materials that balanced heritage with modern living, resulting in a development that feels both timeless and contemporary in the heart of East Peckham.
