    Overview

The Calders is a newly developed housing scheme in Cliviger, which now provides a variety of attractive 3 and 4-bedroom homes to this Lancashire community. Named one of Lancashire’s most desirable villages, Cliviger enjoys a stunning hillside location with excellent nearby attractions, plus great transport links to larger towns including Burnley, Manchester, Preston and Bradford.

CPG Building Supplies worked with developers Miller Homes, to supply reconstituted walling stone and cast stone details to this project.

    Project Completion

With both the easy links to larger cities and the project’s semi-rural location acting as key benefits for this project, developer Miller homes felt it was important that the site served as a stylistic gateway that was sympathetic to both the rural land and the nearby dense town settings.

Having researched the dwellings and community buildings in the local area, it became clear that stone facades, casement windows and simple elevations were prominent features that should be carefully considered for the new site. Consequently, to match the array of local schools, pubs, shops and restaurants, Miller Homes selected a reconstituted walling stone in a natural buff colour and a split-faced finish.

Not only does this achieve the desired continuation of Cliviger’s distinctive style, by using natural stone aggregates quarried from the same sources as those used for natural walling stone, the reconstituted walling stone also provides the development with wonderful texture, variation and durability. To continue the neighbouring aesthetic in the cills and heads that surround each window, CPG Building Supplies also assisted Miller Homes in selecting a semi-dry cast stone in a similar buff shade to that used for the walling stone.

These complementary tones used across the development result in an understated yet classic appearance, whilst ensuring the surrounding greenery remains as undisturbed as possible.
