Overview
10-20 Romsey Road is a new mixed-use development in Eastleigh, Hampshire, combining residential space and commercial units. Designed by Snug Architects and completed by PMC Construction in 2020, this project now provides the area with 54 new apartments, a communal roof terrace and 1,000m2 of facilities for the charities, One Community and Age Concern.
Working with the architects, Brickmongers Wessex supplied two brick types to this project, including the Lanzarote Black brick from our exclusive range. This completes the ground floor commercial space, whilst the Bromo brick from the Bespoke Brick Co is used across the middle section of the facade for a bright and contemporary frontage.
Project Completion
Situated opposite Eastleigh Park, this new development was designed to bring a modern and prestigious feeling to the local area, setting the standard for future projects to come. To achieve this, Snug architects proposed an exciting facade that utilises an angular elevation, with a particular focus on its linear design elements.
The Romsey Road project has also created a unique sense of movement and interest by incorporating a range of facade materials that encourage the eye to travel from one component to the next. In particular, the selection of the Bromo brick, a buff multi, helped to inject character into the central three storeys. As advised by the Brickmongers team, an alternative brick with less natural charm may have resulted in a flatter, less eye-catching design.
We’re pleased to say that the Romsey Road project achieved a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating and ultimately delivered a welcome addition to Eastleigh’s Renaissance Quarter.
