The Brickability South Wales team was proud to play a part in BBC One’s DIY SOS, which aired on Friday 10th October.

The episode saw Nick Knowles and the team take on a life-changing project for Dan and Anna in Swansea.

After a freak accident left Dan with life-altering injuries, the DIY SOS crew stepped in to transform his terraced house into a home where he could continue his rehabilitation and regain his independence. It was a huge challenge with a couple of project-halting discoveries along the way, but the end result was nothing short of extraordinary.

Representing Brickability South Wales on-site was our Finance Manager, Matthew Barnes, who volunteered on two days of the build and returned for the big reveal.

“It was a great experience – I’d definitely do it again,” said Matthew. “I helped source and deliver materials, including an emergency supply run or two! Seeing it all come together for such a deserving couple was incredibly rewarding.”

Brickability supplied paving slabs and sleepers for the project’s garden transformation, ensuring Dan and Anna could finally spend time outdoors together at their home.

The episode, described by designer Gabrielle Blackman as “major works in a minor house,” showcased the power of teamwork and community spirit - something we’re proud to have contributed to.

In case you missed it, you can catch up on DIY SOS on BBC iPlayer.
