Led by [Groupwork ](https://groupwork.uk.com/)alongside engineers [Webb Yates](http://webbyates.com/) and [Arup](https://www.arup.com/), the three-storey installation forms part of the [Design Museum’s Future Observatory](https://futureobservatory.org/) exhibition programme and acts as a full-scale prototype for lower-carbon construction methods. While the wider project focuses on structural stone construction, [Bricklink ](https://brickability.co.uk/businesses/bricklink)and [Brickability ](https://brickability.co.uk/businesses/brickability)contributed to the Pocket Park public realm space adjoining the demonstrator, supplying the [natural stone bricks](https://brickability.co.uk/bricks/stone-bricks) used to create five bespoke seating and landscape installations throughout the exhibition. ## Pocket Park Stone Benches Working closely with [Ernest Park](https://ernestpark.com/) and [Bishop Facades](https://www.bishopfacades.co.uk/), Bricklink and Brickability supported the specification, design development and supply of the [stone bricks](https://brickability.co.uk/bricks/stone-bricks) used within the benches and architectural landscape features. The installations combine integrated seating, framed openings and monolithic stone detailing, creating a series of functional public spaces that encourage visitors to interact directly with the material. The stone bricks, manufactured by Germans Balagué and exclusive to the Brickability Brick & Building Materials Division, were supplied in a variety of natural tones to showcase the variation, texture and character achievable with natural stone. Key benefits of the stone bricks include: - Low embodied carbon - 100% recyclable natural material - Large-format and standard brick sizes available - Durable long-life performance - Bespoke specials and custom detailing capabilities Beyond sustainability, the benches also demonstrate how natural stone can deliver warmth, texture and architectural quality within modern public spaces. ## Collaboration Through Design and Delivery The Stone Demonstrator brought together architects, engineers, contractors and material specialists to explore new approaches to sustainable construction.
