Window surrounds can be designed and specified in a number of thicknesses and styles, to successfully assimilate them into the rest of your facade. As well as being an attractive feature, cills and other surrounds are used to weatherproof windows and the materials used below. - ## Cast Stone Copings Used to cap or cover a wall, coping stones are a beautiful way to protect brickwork from wet weather. We offer coping stones in a range of sleek designs, including flat, weathered and curved. Primarily used in conjunction with other products, cast stone copings come in a range of colours to complement any form of brickwork or masonry. - ## Cast Stone Plinths Used at the base of a building, column or other free-standing formation, cast stone plinths provide elegance while protecting materials used at the foot of a structure. Also referred to as a porch, cast stone porticos are a great way to add grandeur to any residence. Designed to look like natural stone, cast stone is made up of a natural aggregates and cement. The natural aggregates can range between sands, crushed stone and gravels, to alter the texture and colour of the final product. What is the difference between semi-dry and wet cast stone? The main difference between to two cast stone product processes is the quantity of water use. Wet cast is a concrete mixture of aggregate and cement which remains in the mould until cured. This process also offers greater strength where required, in comparison to dry cast stone. Wet cast stone uses considerably more water to manufacture, which results in close-grained material with a smooth surface. This lends itself to creating intricate details and most closely resembles natural stone. Our wet cast stone is manufactured to BS 6457:1984 and benefits from low water absorption, making it ideal in exposed areas. Semi dry cast stone is an aggregate and cement mixture which is packed into moulds then removed to cure. As less water is used to produce semi-dry cast stone, the mould that each product is cast in can be used more frequently, as the material can be transferred from the mould almost straight away. This often means that semi-dry cast stone is more economical with shorter lead times. Our semi-dry cast stone is manufactured to BS 6073:1981. Cast stone offers a cost effective alternative that still offers the appearance of natural stone. As cast stone details are created using moulds, the opportunity to create intricate bespoke details is also much easier when using cast stone.
