These stubs can be extended to accommodate different wall build-up depths and can enable various external access methods without interfering with works on the overall facade. Structural integrity is guaranteed through regular review of calculations and approval by a structural engineer, meaning you can rest-assured that each balcony is installed to the highest of standards. Each balcony is also designed to withstand 2.5 kN/m² live loading. To reduce on-site disruption, all balconies are assembled off-site to minimise on-site labour disruption. Throughout production, from initial aluminium extrusion through to final assembly, Skyeline is supported by a rigorous in house quality assurance process. Every stage is monitored, recorded and verified to maintain consistency, structural integrity, and full accountability. Our engineering team applies structural analysis and performance checks throughout development to ensure each balcony meets required standards for rigidity and serviceability. These assessments inform design refinement, connection detailing and material optimisation, resulting in a system that performs reliably under real-world loading conditions. By combining structured quality assurance with engineering-led validation, our process delivers the transparency and confidence required both on site and across the wider supply chain. At every stage, our in-house structural engineer oversees each project, approving all Skyeline Balcony System calculations prior to installation. What are the benefits of balconies for developers? Balconies are a key consideration for every new development in the UK, especially as demand for outdoor amenity space continues to rise in built-up locations. Skyeline Balcony Systems provide a sustainable, high-performance solution that has been designed and tested to reduce long-term maintenance costs. Our patent-pending integrated water drainage solutions - Skyedrain and Skyedeck – prevent common post-installation issues by efficiently channelling excess water through a perimeter gutter. Working with our in-house designer, our businesses are able to facilitate the design of every project, offering structural engineering calculations which are covered by their £15m Professional Indemnity. How have Skyeline Balcony Systems been designed and tested to meet building regulations? The Skyeline Balcony System is made entirely from non-combustible materials as standard. This provides assurance that their use within 1m of a relevant boundary, or on buildings with balconies that are above 18m, meets all current UK guidance and legislation. Additionally, independent testing has been carried out by a UKAS accredited third party. Please contact us for further information. How many penetrations through the facade are required to support the balcony? The number of penetrations will be dependent on three factors: 1. The type of connection i.e. RC slab, Hollowcore, steel frame and post fixed. 2. The projection of the balcony from the face of the connection. 3. The width of the balcony. Typically, a 3000mmm x 1500mm would require two arms on a reinforced concrete slab. Will there be any visible fixings following balcony installation? No, one of the benefits of Skyeline Balcony Systems is that there are no visible fixings. Can the balcony be designed to be positively drained?
